Casting Study: Z Series Printers – Zebra Technologies

The platen housing design incorporates three previous parts. In order to function properly, the material must be rigid and strong. The housing is cast with four elongated slots, four deep slots, and seven cored holes, maximizing the need for structural support. In addition, the housing arm extensions are long and thin, susceptible to bending in a less rigid material. Die cast ZA-8 fulfills all design requirements by providing dimensional control, repeatability, strength, and rigidity.
