Casting Study: Cheque Guide

This single zinc die casting replaced an assembly of stainless steel components. By use of a single casting, rigidity was greatly improved and dimensional precision between critical dimensions was made more reliable. Zinc die casting permitted the required dimensional precision to be achieved without subsequent machining, also contributing to cost reduction A surface roughness  of Ra = 0.8 μm was achieved on the contact face over which the moving checque passed. The casting was sent to final assembly after post-casting trimming without any further post-casting operations.
