Handle recesses and push-button covers for electronic front door locks and windows increasingly have to fulfill more than just mechanical functions; they are now being equipped with electronics to enable fingerprint access, integrate LED lighting, and control electric window drives. At the same time, a visually appealing design was required. Due to its mechanical, technological, and electrotechnical properties, zinc was chosen as the material. The casting features a unique cast engraving, which is created directly in the casting mold. This casting technique allows for virtually endless possibilities in grain and texture. The requirements called for a brushed surface with a stainless steel look. However, the narrow frame of the component was not to be brushed. A machine-brushed texture was therefore not an option. The brushed texture is created in zinc die-casting at the desired locations and remains visible even after subsequent painting. These textures are wear-resistant and require no further machining.
